GAB Mobile Money (Callbox 2.0)
The Mobile Money ATM, a business that runs 24/7.
- Return on investment between 1.2 and 3.7 years
- Remotely operable
- Secure and scalable
Context
Mobile money has become part of daily habits. In Africa, 781 million active accounts, $1.26 trillion in transactions per year, 7.2 million agents, and over 22% annual growth (2022 figures, growing since). In Cameroon, 24.9 million accounts, 6 to 6.5 million transactions per day, and 40,000 to 60,000 points of sale for Orange and MTN. Every player in the network (operator, main distributor, super agent, agent) earns a commission on every transaction.
Problem
At peak hours, human agents get overwhelmed; their cash or e-float can run out; they face risks of theft, assault, fraud, and handling errors; and they generally only work from 8am to 7pm or 8pm, never around the clock.
Solution
A dedicated Mobile Money ATM, built to banking standards, open 24/7. It handles deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, transfers, and merchant payments, with several operators (Orange, MTN, Afriland First Bank's Sara Money, UBA's M2U, etc.) and several services on the same machine, at no extra cost. Seven years of development and several prototypes have produced a reliable solution, already in production, notably in Limbe, and soon everywhere in Cameroon and Africa.
Security and legal framework
Insurance against theft and vandalism, ATMs from certified banking suppliers, 24/7 monitoring by security agents, cash transport by professionals in armored vehicles. Parent company in the United States, representation in Cameroon, official connections with the operators.
